Florida Bar to Analyze Whether Certain Acts Performed by CAMs Constitute the Unauthorized Practice of Law

13 Jun Florida Bar to Analyze Whether Certain Acts Performed by CAMs Constitute the Unauthorized Practice of Law

On June 22, 2012, the Florida Bar’s Standing Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law will hold a public hearing in response to a Petition Requesting an Advisory Opinion concerning a list of activities which, if performed by a non-attorney (specifically a community association manager), would constitute the unauthorized practice of law.   This determination could greatly impact the role of community association managers as well as the association’s obligation to obtain legal counsel to address these issues in lieu of requiring a community association manager to take the actions referenced in the petition.  Coastal Association Law Group will provide updates regarding the committee’s determination on this issue.
